The Montrose Business Association was established in 2013 with the approach to improve lifestyles for residences and businesses in our area through community involvement and giving back to local causes. Within the three years of commencing, the association has flourished and we have successfully been able to focus on our mission. Some of our combine efforts have resulted in rejuvenating the community with new banners, improved landscaping, “Welcome to Montrose” sign, flag pole in the park and our latest accomplishment of a Veteran’s plaque for annual recognition. In addition, we have hosted events such as craft fairs, which has provided a sense of community. All in all it’s a great association with upbeat energy driven to continue producing positive outcomes.

Monthly Meetings

Once a month the collective group comes together at a local restaurant to share ideas, receive updates, become familiar with local government officials, and listen to guest speakers, network, and commiserate on issues affecting the hamlet and local business.

This was one of the first projects the group tackled upon forming in 2013. A small task force circulated a few ideas to the Town of Cortlandt Supervisor about cleaning up the center of town specifically the corner of Kings Ferry and Route 9A. Hand carved signs and a clean up of the gazebo were quickly enacted. The group continues to challenge the town on ways to improve the access and attractiveness to local business.

Community Events

Without the community we don’t have a town. Since forming we have activities for kids including a pumpkin carving contest’s at the gazebo, A Veterans Memorial commemorating local Vets of Montrose, a Spring Craft Fair, and a local scholarship to the Hendrick Hudson High school. This is just the beginning of what this vibrant and motivated group of business owners is seeking to do.
